SAINT MARCELLA, MARTYR, OF CHIOS, GREECE 9094 Marcella was born and lived on the island of Chios during the 14th century. When Marcella was 18, her father’s sinful desires had begun to show and his behaviour resulted in Marcella leaving home. Her father pursued her. Her final moments were spent in prayer to Christ with a request that the rocks in front of her would open for her to hide from her father and this happened. Everything but her head was covered so when her father found her, he cut off her head and threw it into the sea.
