SAINT CHRYSOSTOM, NEW HIEROMARTYR, METROPOLITAN OF SMYRNA, FULL BODY 9225 St Chrysostom the metropolitan of Smyrna was born in 1867. He was notable for his charity work and the help he gave to many Greeks to leave Smyrna and take refuge in the Greek islands of the Aegean. He refused to leave Smyrna and abandon his flock so he was abducted by the Turks, tied to a barber chair, cruelly tortured, and finally put to death.
