SAINT PHANOURIOS, THE GREAT MARTYR, FULL BODY 9218 All that is known of St. Phanourios is the events of his terrible tortures and his martyrdom. When a roving band of Arabs, nomadic pagans, uncovered amid the ruins of an ancient church a group of icons, among other artifacts. The icons showed 12 scenes of the saint’s martyrdom. Soon after, this blessed man was venerated as a saint. Phanourios, lost for centuries in the ruins of a church, became the patron saint of things lost. To this day his name is invoked when prayers are asked for the recovery of lost items.
