Product Description

SAINT EUSTATHIOS PLACIDAS, THE GREAT MARTYR, ON HORSEBACK 9134 One day while hunting he saw a stag with a cross between its antlers. Christ spoke to him from this vision to go and be baptized with his family. The family left Rome by ship secretly, but his wife was seized by the barbarian captain. Put ashore, St. Eustathios was then separated from his children by a large river. He settled in the city of Vardis before God’s Providence allowed him to be reunited with his wife, and children. On his way back to Rome, Hadrian (117-138 AD) became emperor and the whole family martyred for Christ.

Feast Day: 20th September
