SAINT LUKE, ARCHBISHOP-SURGEON OF SIMFEROPOL, CRIMAEA 9537 St. Luke was born on April 27th 1877. He became a doctor, a priest, a monk and an archbishop. Because of St. Luke’s confessions of faith, he was imprisoned, tortured, and exiled for 11 years in total to Siberia. St. Luke’s re-open many churches that had been closed by the Communists; produced deep theological works, and supported the faithful while drawing many to Orthodoxy. St. Luke reposed in the Lord as the Archbishop of Simferopol in 1961.
